Thermostat

Honeywell Home LineVoltPRO 8000 — Quick Guide

The thermostat controls an electric heater. It works like most programmable thermostats — you set a target temperature and it turns the heat on or off to reach it.

Finding the buttons

To access all the buttons, you need to open the two side panels — they swing out like little doors on the left and right of the thermostat. The left panel has the programming buttons (Day, Hour, Min, etc.) and the right panel has the preset and temperature buttons.

The Basics

What you see on screen

The display normally shows the current room temperature. To see the target (setpoint) temperature, briefly press the or button — it appears for 5 seconds.

The little flame icon shows heating is actively running. More flames = more heat output.

The On/Off Switch

There is a physical On/Off switch on the thermostat. This completely cuts power to the heater.

  • On — normal operation (heating controlled by thermostat)
  • Off — heater is completely off (won't affect your stored schedule or clock)

When to turn it off

Use Off in summer or during a long absence when you want zero heat.

Day-to-Day Use

Changing the temperature right now

The simplest way to adjust temperature is just pressing or until you see the temperature you want.

If you are running a schedule (Automatic mode), this creates a temporary override. The schedule resumes at the next programmed period.

Preset Temperature Buttons

There are three shortcut buttons on the thermostat for common situations:

🏠

Comfort

For when you're home and awake. Default: 70°F

💤

Economy

For when you're asleep or away. Default: 62°F

✈️

Vacation

For extended absences (days or weeks). Default: 50°F

Press the button once to jump to that preset. The icon appears on screen.

Customizing a preset

To change a preset's temperature: press or to your desired temp, then press-and-hold the preset button until its icon appears.

Two Modes: Automatic vs. Manual

Automatic (Auto)

Follows the programmed schedule. Switches between Comfort and Economy temps on a set timetable. The 'A' icon appears on screen.

Manual

Ignores the schedule and holds whatever temperature you set — indefinitely, until you change it.

Press the Mode/Ret button to toggle between modes.

Recommended setting

Automatic mode is recommended — it saves energy by automatically lowering the temp when it's not needed.

Temporary Override

Want a different temperature just for now?

You can temporarily change the temperature without affecting the whole schedule:

  1. Press or to set your desired temperature.
  2. The thermostat holds that temperature until the next scheduled period kicks in.
  3. At that point, it automatically goes back to following the schedule.

Error Messages

LO

Temperature is below sensor range. Heat is ON. Usually not a concern.

HI

Temperature is above sensor range. Heat is OFF. Usually not a concern.

Er

Wiring or sensor issue. Contact the property owner.

After a Power Outage

Most settings (schedule, presets) are saved through a power failure. However, if power is out for more than 6 hours, the clock and Daylight Saving Time setting will need to be reset:

  • Press Hour, then Min to reset the time.
  • Press Day to reset the current day.
  • The thermostat will return to whatever mode it was in before the outage.
